Sekerpare by Chef Aynur Özdemir

Ingredients 


250 gr flour

75 gr powder sugar (confectioners’ sugar)

40 gr semolina

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla

150 gr butter

2 eggs

Syrup

3 cups sugar

3 cups water

1 tbsp lemon juice


Instructions


1- Pour water and sugar in a pot and boil about 15 minutes until it thickens (reaches the right consistency).

2- Add lemon juice and take it off the stove to aside to let it cool.

3- Combine flour, semolina, powdered sugar, vanilla, baking powder and whisk

4- Add butter and eggs in the mix, which holds the batter together

5- Take a handful dough and make an oval shape or round shape

6- Oil a baking pan

7- Place each sekerpare with sufficient space in-between as they will rise when cooked.

8- Place hazelnuts on their top pressing gently

9- Cook them in oven 25 minutes or until golden.

10- Pour the syrup on each sekerpare with a ladle when the cookies are still hot.
